New Student Information and Questions
Bring a notebook or recording device to your lesson.
Your teacher will have your first music books for you. (Cost of books are extra. Prices range from 10.00 per book to 25.00 per book depending on your level) Writing down your exercises and/or recording an example will help you practice in between your lesson times.
Recording warm up exercises helps the parent maintain a consistent practice regime, even though you may not read music. Listening to how your child plays encourages them to do their best. You can listen passively for example while completing a task, such as preparing dinner or folding laundry. Recording the proper way to play the warmup at the lesson will help you and your child play at a higher level faster.
Please be 5 minutes early for your lesson.
Enter in quietly, (you do not have to knock or ring the bell) and be considerate of the student who may be there prior to your own lesson start time. There is a small waiting area at the door.
Piano students make sure your hands are warm before your lesson time, especially in Winter!
Vocal students it is highly recommended to warm up before attending your lesson.
